In Seven Days… Silkscreen Print and Development Works

1. In Seven Days… Artworks (click to enlarge)

  • A completed set of these silkscreen prints are being purchased for the OPC by a US/UK company.

  • One of the prints will be on display (in rotation) at the OPC at all times.

2. The Development Works (click to enlarge)

  • Each Development Work relates to one of the silkscreen prints.

  • President Obama saw these a year ago, when they were by Nicola and Carla Hayden, the Chief Librarian, at the Library of Congress.

  • The original works are being co-acquired by the Library of Congress and the Obama Presidential Centre for £1,000,000.

  • Two perfect facsimile sets will be made, one for each institution, which will be exhibited and used freely without concerns around museum conditions. They will be displayed to tell the story of race, history, and democracy, which users will understand through the lens of their own experiences.

  • These will be exhibited across the Obama Presidential Centre, drawing the various buildings together, and accompanied with interactive digital displays (see prototype below).

  • As part of this acquisition the studio of Nicola Green has provided an archive of extensive research for each item in the Development Works.
